Toddler Program

18 to 30 months

Toddlers’ brains are built to grow when experiencing sounds, smells, sights, taste, and touch. Westcliff Early Learning Academy provides hands-on activities that provide the best learning outcomes as they allow toddlers to safely engage their senses. As a result, toddlers can begin to understand how the world operates and build their knowledge and confidence.

Our teachers develop nurturing relationships with the children and show respect for each child. They provide reasonable expectations and encourage children to test their ideas through structured and open-ended activities. Sensory exploration is offered daily, along with art, music, and movement experiences.

Our toddler environments are warm and inviting to encourage exploration and movement.

Our classrooms are aesthetically appealing with plants, soft rugs, art displays, and flexible seating options to meet your child’s needs. Each room has a nature and peace table, and space for children to work individually or in small groups. The furniture is child size and activities are both structured and open ended.

There are spaces for quiet and active play, both indoors and outside. Children can explore indoor climbing playsets or the rich outdoor environment with gardening and art activities, wheeled toys, tricycles, a sandbox, a climbing slide structure, and a playhouse.

The majority of the activities are child initiated. Toddlers can access many open-ended activity materials, including blocks, playdough, and Reggio inspired loose parts. Class materials are made of high-quality, natural elements.

Children can express themselves through drawings, sculpting, dramatic play, writing, painting, and projects.

Block building, marble runs, and design challenges help children learn how to plan, test, revise, and solve problems.

Logic games, sequencing activities, and hands-on tools support early technology skills—without excessive screen time.

Children develop number sense, pattern recognition, and spatial awareness through playful, real-world math experiences.
